Who is your host?

Your host is Mykola Dudar. I have been working on software products since 1998 as a software developer, database application developer and a program manager. You may also call me Nick which is an English version of my first name. Folks who know me from my job at Microsoft call me Nikola, which is a Serbian version of my name and a nickname my friends called me in my teens. And some folks choose to call me Nikolai, which is a Russian version of my name.

In my free time, I am a husband, a father and a soccer fan and a player. You can find my professional profile at LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/mykoladudar.  My other blog on Microsoft products was at: http://blogs.msdn.com/nikolad/.

What are the origins of the “PM Snack” name?

Sometime ago, in the office of Martyn Lovell , I saw a small card with “pm snack” printed on it. Originally, the card was a voucher Martyn had been given at an event for a free afternoon snack. But it was how people interpreted the text on the card that got me thinking about creating this blog. Most visitors to Martyn’s office correctly guessed the original purpose of the card – as a coupon for an afternoon snack the holder may redeem in Microsoft’s cafeteria.

Program and Project Managers visiting Martyn’s office saw “pm snack” as a bite to eat – especially for them – in Martyn’s office. Not an entire meal, but something to get a PM going until the real “dinner time” arrived. I really liked the idea of a snack for Program Managers and it planted the seed for this blog.

I see pmsnack.com as a place where I can share something interesting, quick and satisfying, to be consumed at one’s desk during a short break from work. I plan to share links to news articles, interesting reads, share thoughts and opinions, provide tips and advice or answer questions. With time, with help from readers, I hope to develop a more specific description of this “snack” for Program and Project Managers.

I was just going through PPM Community’s Top 100 blogs, and saw you on there, so well done. Incidentally, we’re updating the How to Manage a Camel blog roll and wanted to know if you’d be interested in reciprocating links if you were to start a blog roll yourself at PM Snack. Our link for when you do is http://www.arraspeople.co.uk/camel-blog/.

    Hope all is well!

    • Hi Dan,
I have considered starting a blog roll of blogs on PM that I follow closely, but never had time to build one. I hope to find time to build this list soon. I have not been following Camel Blog closely in the past, but I will now. If I like it, I’ll add it to my list of favorite blogs.
